Loukaniko!!!!!

Hey everyone! The folowing sausage that I am about to talk about is (in my opinion) one of the TASTIEST sausages I have EVER had. It is in fact called 'Loukaniko' or 'Loukanika', and is originally form the island of Cyprus, in Greece. These delectable delicacies are made with a variety of meat, and come in many variations. One of the most well know variations, however, is flavoured with fennel seeds and orange peel. The variation which made me fall in love with it the minute i tasted it was actually made with kangaroo. My friend's Dad cooked the sliced loukanika with eggs in lots of olive oil, and when I ate it the flavour was absolutely amazing. These sausages have more flavour than a normal sausage by far. I urge you to get some whenever you get the chance! Unfortunately, you can't really find it in many shops!!!

~I'd just like to say, the photo included in this post was used because I do not have any pictures of the Loukanika that I ate at my friends house, however it should be accurate enough.

Week Number 1: Greek

The first cuisine I'm going to do is Greek, and throughout this week (12th-18th April) I am going to blog about the not so known delicacies of the country as well as my personal favourites. Most of you probably think that you know a lot about Greek food, but the truth is people don't really know much at all. Walking into a Greek Restaurant, Paradise of Lindos (which I will later give a review on) I found that I recognised only the Greek salad, the souvlakis and baklava. I did also know about the loukanika, but only because my best friend introduced it to me. So, the aim of this week's blogs is to educate people about REAL Greek food, not just the generic things that everyone knows about. So, let Greek Week begin!!

Introduction

Hey! For all those out there who are reading this now because my blog title interested them, I'm glad that you're here. If you're wondering what this blog is about, I'd like to first of all say that I am NOT about to travel around the world researching different cuisines in 80 days (unfortunately) like the people in the movie 'Around The World In 80 Days'. But what I am about to attempt is an 80 week challenge in which I will research a specific cuisine, cook its typical dishes, and blog about every week. My blogs will include info about the cuisine I am researching, recipes, LOADS of pictures of the food I make but also of restaurants and stores that are associated with my research. The challenge will begin on the 5th of April so keep an eye out for the first blogs!!
